Free Crochet Flower Pattern Day 7 – Forget-me-not

Today is the last -7th -day of my Free Crochet Flower Pattern a Day Challenge. I was working very hard for the whole week to create all those free crochet flower patterns for you and I hope you will find them useful.

A little story about today’s crochet flower. The full name is Myosotis but we all know it by it’s common name “forget-me-not” which was borrowed and translated from German, and first used in English in 1398. Similar names and variations are found in many languages. Myosotis flowers has 5 petals each. Flowers come in blue, white, pink and yellow colors with yellow middles and they are about 1cm in size or even smaller.

I like to think my patterns are easy to read but if you are a beginner and still struggling with reading the patterns this book will help you:

MATERIALS:

  • To make this forget-me-not crochet flower I used standard acrylic DK yarn in blue.
  • 3mm Crochet Hook. I currently use Knit Pro crochet hooks as well as cheap bamboo ones if I’m missing any size in Knit Pro. They are nice and soft in a grip and steel part is very smooth.

Here are the Amazon links if you are would like to purchase the colorful Knitpro hooks:

You will also need: yarn needle and scissors.
Pattern Written in US crochet terms. For UK crochet terms users all you need to know is that Tr (Treble) is the same as UK’s Dtr (Double Treble).
ABBREVIATIONS:

Ch – Chain
Tr – Treble

Start by making a Magic Ring (otherwise called Magic Circle). Check out my Magic Ring Tutorial.

Work all the stitches around Magic Ring.
Step 1)  Sl st around Magic Ring and make 3 ch

Step 2) Make 1 tr and 1 ch

Step 3) Make  1 tr

Step 4) Make 3 ch

Step 5) Sl st back to the magic ring

Crocheting in the Round: Mix & Match Hats (w/ Stacey Trock)
Repeat steps 1-5 four more times to make 5 petals in total.

Pull on the loose end of the magic ring to adjust the size of the ring so the petals overlap each other slightly.

With overcast stitch sew on yellow middle by going over twice at the bottom of each petal making sure you stitch around magic ring. Use double yarn when doing the stitches so they are more visible as shown on the photos below.

Blocking (optional) – To make the flower even prettier wet and pin it down by pulling on the middle chain between trebles to make the petals more ‘pointy’
