Crochet Angel Christmas Ornament Free Pattern – Crochet Arcade

Crochet Angel Christmas Ornament Free Pattern

Christmas time is the time of Sharing and Giving so I decided I will share my Crochet Patterns for 2 Angel Ornaments with you.

Writing this I’m just on the plane coming back from week long holidays in my home country – Poland. Whilst on holidays I was making this little Crochet Angels for my family because unfortunately we won’t be seeing them for Christmas this year as we have to stay in UK because of work commitments. They were all happy with my little crochet gifts and I’m planning to make few more of those Crochet Angels for myself. Hope you will enjoy making them too!

To make this I used Drops Cotton Viscose, main color is Pearl Grey and for edging Mustard. Unfortunately this yarn has now been discontinued. You can search for yarn substitutes on yarn sub website here.

CROCHET ANGEL ORNAMENT PATTERN NR 1 (BIGGER ONE)

HEAD AND BODY:
Note: Angels’ head and body is worked in one piece in spiral sc, starting at the top of the head. Mark last st of each round with a safety pin or marker and move it onto last st at the end of every round.
Crocheting in the Round: Mix & Match Hats (w/ Stacey Trock)
To create this Crochet Angel you will need to know how to increase and decrease the stiches. Here is the course that can help you  Crochet Essentials: Increases & Decreases.

Using main color (MC) and 4mm hook make a loop ring (adjustable ring) then begin as follows:

1) 1 ch, 6 sc in loop ring (Do not turn but work with RS always facing). Pull yarn end to close loop ring.
2) 2 sc in each sc (12 sc made)
3) (1 sc in next sc, 2 sc in next sc) x 6 (18 sc)
4) 1 sc in each sc (18 sc)
5) (1 sc in next sc, sc2tog) x 6 (12 sc)
6) sc2tog x 6 (6 sc)
7) (1 sc in next sc, 2 sc in next sc) x 3 (9 sc)
8) 2 sc in each sc (18 sc)
9 – 13) 1 sc in each sc (18 sc)
14) (1 sc in next 2 sc, 2 sc in next sc) x 6 (24 sc)
15) 1 sc in each sc (24 sc), sl st to the next st and fasten off
Join in gold color yarn in any of the st to create gold edging:
16) 1 sc in each sc (24 sc)

17) (3 sc in first sc, sl st to next sc) x 12. On the end of the round sl st to top of first sc and fasten off.

CROCHET ANGEL WINGS:

Using main color (MC) and 4mm hook make a loop ring (adjustable ring) leaving long end of yarn then begin as follows:
1) 4 ch and 11 dc in loop ring. Pull yarn end to close loop ring. (12 dc) DO NOT join to the top of 4ch, turn
2) 4 ch, dc in the same st, 2 dc in each of remaining st (24 dc) turn
3) 4 ch, dc in next 3 st, hdc in next 2 st, sc, sl st in next 10 st, sc, hdc in next 2 st, dc in 4 remaining st, fasten off
Sl st second color (gold) to the first st of the last round

4) (3 sc in first st, sl st to the second st) repeat 12 times, fasten off.

FINISHING:

Use long end of yarn to sew on the wings to the back of the Angel. I placed the right side of the wings facing the back of the Angel as that way wings will naturally lean forward and the right side will be visible while looking at the Angel. I’ve placed the top of the wings in between head and a body and sew between row 1 and 2. Stuff the head with hollow fiber filling or a cotton bud.
